Summary

Eleanor Goudie-Averill, Associate Director of Dance at the Lawrence Arts Center, is a 2007 MFA Dance Performance graduate of the University of Iowa.  She returned to Kansas as a 2015 Artist-in-Residence at LAC, providing dance outreach to over twenty local schools and organizations and choreographing for many productions, including a new version of Peter and the Wolf.  She has served as a visiting professor at the University of Iowa, Bucknell University and Franklin & Marshall college, and as an adjunct professor for several years at Temple University in Philadelphia.  While in Philly, Ellie performed extensively with Group Motion Multimedia Dance Theater, MacArthur Dance Project and SCRAP Performance Group and has danced in works by Jose Limon, Susan Rethorst and Lucinda Childs.  Her own choreography has been shown on the East Coast and throughout the Midwest at venues such as Movement Research, the A.W.A.R.D. Show!, RAW Material, Judson Church, and the Folly Theater.  She currently performs for Tori Lawrence + Co. in dance films and site-specific works and is delighted to be returning to the University of Kansas—her alma mater—as a professor of Modern I, II, and III.
